Many are Calling for Cuomo's Resignation After a Nursing Home Stunt That May Have Resulted in Thousands of Deaths

Did you lose a loved one in a New York nursing home last year? Blame Andrew Cuomo. On March 25, 2020 Governor Cuomo issued a directive that resulted in over 9,000 Coronavirus patients being sent back to nursing homes by May. This resulted in around 15,000 nursing home and assisted living deaths. However, this was the not the numbers originally reported. In fact the original numbers that were reported by the Cuomo administration was just under 7,000 Coronavirus patients were sent back to nursing homes resulting in 8,500 deaths. But this is only about half of the earlier numbers, so why exactly was there a discrepancy? According to ABC News, Cuomo hid the information out of fear that the Trump administration would come after New York for their mishandling of the pandemic. You don’t believe me? Here’s the quote from ABC, “The governor's top aide, Melissa DeRosa, confirmed the contents of the recording of a September conference call with Democratic state legislators, first reported by the New York Post, in which she admits that the governor's office withheld the numbers due to concerns they would ‘be used against us’ by the Justice Department under then-President Donald Trump.” In other words this was all political.

Cuomo sent Grandma to her death and then blamed the mishandling and then blamed the mishandling and the coverup on the Trump administration for political gain. Just for clarity, when asked about the nursing home debacle, Cuomo said, “If you think there was a problem, go talk to the federal government.” Many people say the coverup is typically worse than the crime, and in Cuomo’s situation, the coverup is leading to calls for his resignation. Let’s hope he does resign or loses reelection in 2022. Good riddance to bad trash.
